In today’s meeting, I reveal the sum total of countless days of work – a working floorplan for the Mystery Shack!
The Mystery Shack is a building shrouded in mystery that confoundingly seems full of twisting halls, windows that you can’t see from the outside of the building, an interior that is vastly larger than it looks on the outside, and STAIRS EVERYWHERE.
But if you watch the show, and follow the visual clues, you can get a sense of where particular rooms exist within the Mystery Shack. That’s why I sunk so much time into mapping it out. My investigation concluded that the Mystery Shack is only 2 floors tall (comprised of a main floor, and an attic). The first floor must contain at least the following rooms: a Gift Shop, a secret elevator, a den/TV room, a foyer, a kitchen, a Ballroom, Stan’s office, Soos’ break room, the museum floor, a parlor, a bathroom, the secret room the wax figures were in, and the secret office. The second floor must contain the following: a store room, Grunkle Stan’s bedroom, and Dipper and Mabel’s bedroom.
The floorplan that I settled on is not to scale, and only attempts to fit the various places and rooms within the Mystery Shack’s interior. It is awkward in places due to odd twists and turns the characters make as they travel through the shack, and is still in flux. As more is revealed in season 2, more updates will be made to my floorplan!
But what do you think? What new rooms do you think we’ll see in the second season? Will more of the basement be revealed? Leave your theories and suggestions in the comments below!
