Northwest Mansion Mystery features the story of the Northwest’s annual fancy party, and an ancient curse laid upon the family 150 years ago. It turns out that the ghost is real and it’s angry, so Pacifica turns to Dipper to deal with the problem. As payment, he secures tickets for Mabel, Candy, and Grenda, and the five of them return to the Northwest Mansion.
Dipper attempts to deal with the low level spirit with some anointed water, but it turns out that it is a very powerful ghost, and his water is useless. So the ghost gives chase while the guests arrive, and Dipper discovers that silver mirrors will trap painting ghosts, and deftly catches the lumberjack ghost in a handheld silver mirror.
The ghost however tells Dipper his story, that he and the other townsfolk were tricked into building the mansion on the condition that they are permitted to attend the annual fancy party. After the Northwest Mansion is built, they break their promise, and the lumberjack ghost was killed in a landslide.
Dipper is angry that he was lied to, and even calls Pacifica Northwest out for being twofaced, but he still goes through with the exorcism. The lumberjack ghost tricks Dipper however and frees himself and escapes to the Northwest Mansion to wreak havoc. He turns everyone to wood – even Dipper, and Pacifica breaks the curse by overcoming her parents conditioning and opening the gates to the common townsfolk.
At the party McGucket pulls Dipper aside and tells him that the apocalypse is coming, and Dipper brushes him off. He wants a night to relax. The problem is that a night is all they have left! At that same time Agents Powers and Trigger sneak into a broom closet because it turns out that they know the machine under the Mystery Shack is active, and start mobilizing their troops into action!
