BILL CIPHER’S WHEEL (Gravity Falls) The Royal Order of the Holy Mackerel

Royal MEETING 54

In this meeting of The Royal Order of the Holy Mackerel, I revisit and reanalyze a highly requested topic: Bill Cipher’s Wheel!

In this week’s meeting of the Royal Order of the Holy Mackerel I reinvestigate an old topic that I constantly see wild theories about: Bill Cipher’s Wheel.

The biggest secret about Bill Cipher’s Wheel is the reason why these symbols are connected to characters in Gravity Falls. Once you crack that reason, connecting the symbols becomes easy – and that is why I present this important theory: Since Gravity Falls is all about “growing up” these symbols are connected to characters after they make their first step toward maturity – their first mature decision.

This means that Dipper and Mabel are on Bill Cipher’s Wheel as the Pine Tree and the Shooting Star after the events of Tourist Trapped when they decide to investigate Gravity Falls instead of head back home. Soos is connected to the Question Mark in Blendin’s Game when he (mostly) accepts that his real dad will never return. Wendy is connected to the Ice Bag in The Inconveniencing when she keeps Dipper’s secret. Pacifica is connected to the llama in Northwest Mansion Mystery when she stands up for herself and her beliefs for the first time. Robbie is connected to the Stitched Heart in The Love God when he lets go of the past to enjoy the present. In A Tale Of Two Stans, Stanford is connected to the 6 Fingered Hand when he made the decision of what to do with the rest of his life, and Stanley is connected to the Glasses when he takes on the selfless quest of saving his estranged brother.

The only two symbols on Bill Cipher’s Wheel we have not seen characters make mature developments around are the fez symbol and the star seen on the Tent of Telepathy. Theoretically it makes sense to connect these symbols to the characters we see them the most near – Gideon Gleeful and Stanley Pines. But since BOTH of these characters are literal frauds, it makes sense that they are similarly using their symbols without a connection.

My theory is that Bud Gleeful – the first character we see in contact with the Star Symbol (on Gideon’s Psychic Sack) – is the man connected to that symbol. Most likely the connection comes from Gideon’s secret origin. The fez symbol must belong to it’s rightful owner (not Stanley) – the newly revealed Shermy Pines! It makes sense that the whole Pines family make an appearance on Bill Cipher’s Wheel, but why or how he’s connected is anyone’s guess!

But these are just my theories! Agree? Disagree? Sound off in the comments below and let me know what you believe!
